The Sandlot Baseball & Softball Academies
Mission
To utilize principals learned on The Sandlot to improve the lives and
character of young adults today.
Vision
For the Sandlot to teach young athletes the A, B, Cs of life: Academics,
Baseball, and Character.
With this mission and vision, The Sandlot Baseball & Softball Academy
is set to become the premier provider of baseball and softball instruction.
Our specialized instructional program goes beyond just the physical training
on the field to include heart, attitude, and mental preparation. Our
goal is to instill a life-long learning system for both mind and body.
Our programs are designed to help parents create successful, dedicated
and respectful children by reinforcing positive values in our unique
baseball/softball setting.
Students not only learn how to play the games, but also learn self confidence
by setting and reaching goals, self esteem by continual growth, improvement
on and off the field, and respect for others and themselves.
Training Approach
The Sandlot training approach is based on the five physical tools that
major league baseball scouts look at when evaluating players. Those five
physical tools are:
-
Running: speed and base running abilities
-
Fielding: softness of hands, exchange from glove to throwing
hand
-
Throwing: arm strength and accuracy
-
Hitting for average: situational hitting
-
Power Hitting: abilities to drive the ball
The sixth and maybe the most important area a scout evaluates are referred
to in the industry as "makeup". This in essence is the character
of the player, the overall players attitude, dedication, level of respect and
self confidence. Many times the sixth tool, the players mental aspect, determines
if the player makes the team, earns the scholarship, or is offered the professional
contract. This sixth element is the core of The Sandlot Baseball & Softball
Academies training and how we differentiate ourselves from the competition.
CHAMPS
The Sandlot Baseball & Softball Academies philosophy is based on encouraging
and rewarding positive behavior for each student in his or her game, at home
